Common questions

How do I scan a document?

Tap New document, then Camera. Hold your iPhone over the page: it is outlined in lime and taken once it holds still. Move to the next page and it does the same. Tap Done when you have them all, check the crop and the look of each page, and save.

The camera keeps taking the wrong thing

Tap Pause detection. The camera then stops taking pages by itself, and the shutter takes whatever is inside the frame on screen. You can still adjust the corners of each page afterwards.

Can I add photos I already have?

Yes. Tap New document, then Photos, to start a document from your photo library, or open a document and tap Add photos or Scan pages to add more. Camera pages and photos can sit in the same document.

A page came out wrong

Open the page and use Crop, Filters or Rotate. HyperScanner keeps the original photo, so you can change any of these as often as you like.

My PDF is not searchable, or search cannot find a word

Check that Searchable text is on, in Settings under PDF export or on the Export screen. Searching your library by the words in your scans uses the same text recognition, so it needs this on too. Handwriting and very faint print may not be recognized.

If a language is read badly, choose it under Settings → Text recognition → Languages. The choice applies to pages read from then on; a page you already have is read again after you rotate it or change its filter.

Are my documents uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens on your iPhone, and your scans stay in the app until you export or share them. See the privacy policy.

Where are my scans kept?

Inside the app on your iPhone, and in your device backup if backups are on. Deleting the app deletes them, so export anything you want to keep first.

Managing or cancelling a subscription

Subscriptions are billed by Apple, so they are managed on your device: open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. In HyperScanner, Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription takes you to the same place. Cancelling stops the next renewal and keeps your access until the end of the period you have paid for. We cannot cancel or refund a subscription on your behalf — refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Restoring a purchase on a new iPhone

In HyperScanner, open Settings → Subscription and tap Restore at the top, signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with.
